UNIT3 is an artist-led studio, performance, exhibition and project space in Lostwithiel, Cornwall.
We provide artists with long and short-term studio facilities alongside opportunities to experiment and take risks; trying out new ideas within their practice.
We work closely with local communities by providing engagement opportunities including workshops, exhibitions, talks and creative led community projects.
We believe that contemporary creative practices have an important role to play within the local and wider communities. To further this goal we also engage with local schools, further and higher educational bodies aiming to inspire and motivate through performance, making, playing and encouraging experimentation.
Community
Part of our mission is to identify and grow other spaces where creativity can lead development and community wellbeing. This includes providing workshops, classes and running projects which engage a broad selection of the community, from ages 0 to 99.
Recent projects include the development of a mural and short film project with a local youth centre. Focusing on the impact of knife crime on children, families and wider communities this project has been driven and directed by the children and young adults.
Previous projects include :
- Creative summer workshops for children
- Largescale parade and lightshow creation
- Fine motor skill development for groups with Multiple Sclerosis
- Outdoor, forest school and woodland skills workshops
- Beach and river sustainability development
- Theatre set design and creation
